This farm, built in the 1800's, has had a long and interesting history. During the Civil War, it was owned by the Dyer family, staunch abolitionists and believers in diplomacy over war. It is believed to have been part of the underground railroad. While embracing this rich history, the property is now being operated as a bed and breakfast.

The Saratoga Farmstead appeals to guests seeking a quiet and peaceful home-away-from-home while enjoying all that the busy city of Saratoga Springs and the surrounding areas have to offer.

Located just 2.5 miles form the center of the City of Saratoga Springs, NY, the farmstead seems like it is in an altogether different world. Its ten acres provide for rest and relaxation while its proximity to the Saratoga Race Course, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Skidmore College, Saratoga Mineral Baths, national parks, great golf courses, polo, museums and galleries, wonderful restaurants and shops ensure something for everyone.

At the farmstead, great care is taken to use environmentally friendly practices, including growing organic fruits, vegetables and herbs on site and the use of local sustainable products when possible. The Saratoga Farmstead is recognized by Audubon International, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and other organizations for ongoing efforts towards energy efficiency, resource conservation and pollution prevention.

I have been staying at the Saratoga Farmstead for several years. Their breakfasts are amazing and abundant. I believe I have stayed in almost every room and they are all unique and spotless. I am always pleasantly surprised by the diverse, creative touches. If you are looking for lace and teddy bears, this is not your place. However, if a clean, imaginative room, a delicious but healthy breakfast and intelligent conversation from clever and caring people is what you want, Saratoga Farmstead is your kind of place.
