Moving towards positive changes in
“Heart Nutrition”
Food and eating take on more of a symbolic significance when
we look at “feeding the heart.” We see food used as a vehicle for expressing
love on Valentines Day with chocolate gifts, couples having a meal together,
Moms baking cookies, etc. Extending the love we have via the conduit of
food. I mentioned this in a recent
blog post with my experience at the Kushi Institute years ago. Every process of food preparation there
is “infused with the intentions of
Love”. As a result the experience
of eating there is very healing, inspiring, empowering and more. Love truly is the highest vibration
possible. When it feeds the body,
it feeds the soul and the spirit and therefore builds on the essence of who you
uniquely are and thus what your purpose is.
I am taking a nutrition course from Deanna M. Minich, PhD., C.N. In her book Chakra Foods for Optimum Health, she states
“The greatest nourishment we can ever take in is that of
Love. Love infuses every morsel of
food we ingest. Without it, we starve
our hearts, and ultimately, our soul. “
Nutrients that feed the heart are the fine and delicate
phytonutrients from plant sources. Vegetables support the heart with what it
needs to be grounded in healthy boundaries, and to be expansive and loving at
the same time. There are specific
vegetables that connect with and support the heart.
The design and organization of cruciferous vegetables
mirrors that of the unfolding spirals (layers) of the rose like heart chakra.
Full of sulfur, these veggies guard the body of toxins. (See chart below)
Green colored foods in general support the vibration of the
heart in many specific ways. A
lush green color vibrates with the frequency of life on earth, and therefore
can support the heart energy back to its mission of love, compassion and
healing throughout the earth kingdom.
You can read more on how green foods specifically support in “Chakra
Foods for Optimal Health”. It is
also interesting to note the relationship of people who like green foods and
that of the vibrancy – or not -of their heart energy.
