Saratoga First Night 2010 Itinerary of Events

Ring in the new year with the 14th annual First Night Saratoga! Join in this New Years event, "Starry Starry Night," full of fun for everyone from 5:00 pm December 31, 2009 to 1:00 am on January 1, 2010.

Prepare for an evening of fun and festivities in downtown Saratoga Springs as families flock to the city to enjoy the marvelous events, festive spirit and holiday entertainment on New Years Eve. Officials are expecting 14,000 people to attend this year, and are calling this year's First Night event the largest in the state, and the largest New Year's Eve event in upstate New York.

During First Night Saratoga you get to see Spa City at its finest, decked out for the holidays with lights, decorations and plenty of holiday spirit! Saratoga First Night is a family-oriented New Years celebration of the culture and tradition in Saratoga Springs, NY. The night of fun will feature wonderful family activities, with more than 80 performances, at 35 locations around the city, scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 11:40 p.m.

This year's theme "Starry Starry Night " will showcase an array of performances under the night skies. From musical performances to magic acts, comedy shows, art exhibits, independent films, ballet, swing & salsa dancing, and karaoke - nothing is left out! Some events returning from previous years include the annual First Night 5K Run at 5:30 p.m., the Saratoga Springs Youth Orchestra, the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company, a Lennon/McCartney Tribute and the Union Fire Marching Band. Browse Saratoga shops and stop in to restaurants around the city, which will be open late to ring in the new year.

A first annual performance by the United Service Organizations will follow the opening ceremonies at the City Center, starting at 5:30 p.m. The USO is an international group that caters to U.S. military personale and their families through morale-raising activities and entertainment. Other special events this year include a hot air balloon, robotics demonstrations, reptile presentation, dog show, kids' arts and crafts and of course a spectacular fireworks show to welcome in the New Year at midnight!

Music lovers, you won't want to miss First Night in Saratoga! From folk artists, holiday choruses, rythm & blues singers, jazz musicians, rock 'n roll artists, country music bands, pop singers, classical orchestras, a capella groups, opera singers and many other musical entertainers performing at several different venues in Saratoga on New Years Eve. See the complete events itinerary for First Night in Saratoga.

CDTA shuttle buses will provide free transportation between all performance venues to make it easier to get around and avoid traffic in the large crowds. The buses will run during the entirety of the event from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Click here for details and a First Night bus route map.
