Bed and Breakfast for Dummies
By Nancy Muldoon
Our jail and prison system
Have become like a
Bed and Breakfast
For dummies
Who live rent free
Read books and work out
While the rest of us have
Become enslaved
By our ever growing pile
Of bills, pills, problems
And unwanted pounds
The politicians have us
Falling in lock step
While we twelve step
To keep rehab
At bay
Some say American Culture is like
A Greek Tragedy
But tragically
It is not
We sell our pride and our souls
On ebay
So we may continue
To worship at
The Ivory Towers
Of Walmart
Puppetry and Pageantry
Yankees in cowboy hats
Run the show in D.C.
In the land of the brave
Home of the free
There is no fan fare
For a common girl like me
