Day Trip To Schenectady

Whether you come to see a show at Proctors Theatre or take a stroll through the Central Park Rose Garden, you'll be glad you spent a day in the City of Schenectady! From its fantastic dining and shopping opportunities to its vibrant nightlife, this Upstate hotspot is well worth the 40-minute drive from Saratoga Springs.

Jay Street Schenectady

Located along the Mohawk River, Rivers Casino and Resort is a popular Schenectady destination, offering over 1,100 slot machines and 70 table games, as well as on-site dining, live entertainment, and even a spa.

When visiting the historic city, you might also want to check out Jay Street, a pedestrian neighborhood featuring shops, galleries, and great restaurants. In the summer, kick back and enjoy live music with Jazz on Jay, a free outdoor concert held every week from June through August.

For some fresh air and sunshine, don't forget to head down to Central Park! There you'll find softball fields, tennis courts, and the park's famous Rose Garden. You can also bring your bike and ride along the marked Bike Trail: it's a great way to check out the beautiful old buildings and natural surroundings in and around Schenectady.

A great choice for families is miSci: the Museum of Innovation and Science. Featuring interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and even a planetarium, kids and parents won't want to miss out on this Schenectady gem.

After a day full of new discoveries and exciting adventures, remember to stop for a bite to eat. The Schenectady area is a foodie's paradise, with options like traditional Italian, BBQ, Asian fusion, and more. Be sure to check out these great restaurants before heading back to Spa City!
