I think of myself as a positive and optimistic person with a pretty happy outlook on life. In this blog, I try to keep things light and informative so that you, my readers, can gain a little bit of knowledge and maybe even a little bit of courage to try something new. Today, I am going to get real and scratch a bit more of the surface.
I have certainly become victim to my own insecurities from time to time. I beat myself up in my mind and sometimes in the reflection I see in the mirror without anyone else saying a word. I know this is not uncommon for most of us, so I want you to know you are not alone. This isn’t something that happens to me often or daily, but when insecurity grabs me, it holds me tight. Imagine having an “off” day and then standing or sitting on stage teaching fitness classes to 60 eager folks. Needless to say, it is daunting and humbling all at once.
Some ways that I fight my own inner-bully is to remind myself that I am trying my best to live the healthiest and fullest life that I can and that no one is perfect. I also try to do something nice for myself, like taking an hour to finish a book or get a pedicure with a friend. I also get right back to my routine. Working out always makes me feel better and I am ALWAYS glad that I did it.
To get a little cheesy, I will throw out a quote from P!nk – “you are perfect to me”! When you are feeling low, just remember, everyday is a new chance to be great!
Your bio made me laugh – alas, the ice-cream diet isn’t real!
I have to remind myself, when I throw in the towel some days, that yes, I’m not perfect but I am the only one who can change my habit of a lifetime. I think people just don’t prioritise exercise because they don’t like it. It has to be fun, to me. Adding social elements really helps – going with friends, your kids, or playing a team game.
