I had a conversation with someone lately about my photos on Facebook. She asked why I still have photos of myself from before I started my fitness journey. At first, I was stunned, then mad, then sad, then finally – proud.
Let me explain, I will always be a work in progress and that is something I pride myself in. It takes eating a large slice of “humble pie” to be able to admit you are not anywhere near perfect and to be okay with that. Yes, I do have pictures on my Facebook account from years and years ago when I was at least 40 pounds heavier than I am now. I am proud of those pictures because it reminds me of how hard I have worked over the years to be where I am today. I am just the girl next door who made some better choices and fits a little better into a smaller pair of jeans.
Everyday we all make choices that will affect our health and our overall appearance and that is what life is about – choices. I am glad that I make mostly good choices, but I do not beat myself up over the “bad” ones either.
For those of you that can relate to my story, whether your photos are today – the first day of your journey, the middle of the road, or the finish line, be proud of who you are and where you have been.
