I really pride myself in being as personable, approachable and open to my clients as I can be. I also was careful to hire staff at my Spinning studio that seemed to have the same attitude. Let’s be honest; if you aren’t comfortable with an instructor, personal trainer or gym staff, you aren’t likely to stick with it.
When choosing a personal trainer, facility, instructor, fitness professional, or dietitian, remember – this is about you and your goals. You should never feel scared, intimidated or unhappy during your training and if you do, it is time for a change. There are lots of qualified fitness and health professionals in Saratoga Springs that would love your business.
Here are some things to ask your trainer before you hire him or her:
What are your credentials? They may say they are certified or licensed, but ask for proof. When it comes to your health, you cannot be too cautious.
Do you have any referrals? Getting first hand feedback from current or past clients is a great way to find out more about them.
How much is it? Don’t get trapped into paying more than you should.
What is your availability? If your schedule doesn’t mesh, you won’t get it done.
What is your cancellation policy? Sometimes, if you late cancel, you could be charged.
Would this be a private or group setting? What are my options?
Here are some questions to ask yourself when seeking out a new trainer, or to evaluate your trainer:
What are my goals?
How will this person help me to reach my goals?
Can I afford this?
Do I have any injuries or problems to tell them about prior to our workout?
Who is my emergency contact?
Would I prefer one-on-one training or a group setting?
Do I need special equipment or attire for our workout?
Do I feel comfortable with this person? Can I speak with them honestly about my health and wellness?
I hope this helps you to choose the right person or facility on your journey to health and wellness.
