Do you hear that noise? It sounds like someone just let the air out of your tires, or a balloon that is leaking air. Oh yeah, that would be my lungs after the 4 mile run on the 4th of July!
Let me start out with my favorite parts of the race.
We had several folks from my Spinning studio run together and they all sported their Saratoga Cycling Studio shirts to show that we aren’t just stuck on a bike – we are runners too! It gave me so much pride to see my fellow Spinning buddies out there!
The course was gorgeous! We ran through some of the most beautiful streets in the the city and our neighbors were nice enough to cheer for us and lend us their sprinklers to help cool us off.
Although it wasn’t a fast time for me, I reached my goal of 40 minutes thanks to my running buddy Lyndsay, who kept me on track and was my biggest cheerleader.
Bumping (sometimes literally) into tons of folks who commented on my SCS shirt and inquired about my studio. Some also mentioned that just seeing me out there motivated them to push to the end. Who the heck wants to sit in a vendor booth all morning when you can run and be the real deal?
The entire morning was really well organized and the volunteers were wonderful.
Now, my least favorite parts of the race.
IT WAS A BILLION DEGREES OUTSIDE! For a girl that trains in mostly air conditioned rooms, the heat was hard for me to overcome. I pushed, I did it, I am glad it is over!
I wish it had started at 8am instead of 9am.
The hill at the finish line was a killer! I won’t say I hated it, but I am super thankful for my strong Spinning legs that got me to the finish line.
