Remember January 1st when it was freezing outside? Remember when you made that little promise to yourself to get in better shape, be a little healthier, or lose a little weight? Well, here is your wake-up call!!! Have you stayed on track? Have you met your goal yet?
If you answered, “no” to some of these questions, I have a solution for you. Move it! If you answered, “yes”, no need to keep reading!
My superhero power is not endless energy or motivation, it is the desire to be the best that I can be, that day. I have days that I leave my office and drag myself to the spin studio. I am tired, both mentally and physically and I just don’t want to work out. My body is telling me to put on some shorts and chill out at home, but my brain is telling me that I will feel awesome after my workout. My brain is right! If you have felt this way for way too many days, it is never to late to move and achieve your goals.
When the temperature outside is dangerously hot, bring your workouts inside where there is ample air conditioning to keep you cool and safe. Try to keep your workouts brief if you cannot find a cool place to complete them.
Here is a quick way to burn some calories and build strength:
Try to complete this circuit in less than 30 minutes, 3 rounds of each.
20 jumping jacks (you can make these low impact by not letting your feet leave the floor)
30 squats (weight in heels, chest lifted, butt back)
15 alternating lunges each leg
20 push-ups (knees or toes) If you cannot complete all 20, do as many as you can correctly and safely.
30 second plank hold (knees or toes)
