Saratoga Reiki Healing
Discover why more and more people seek Saratoga Reiki healing as a holistic health treatment for a variety of conditions. Once scoffed at by Western medical practitioners, Reiki has enjoyed some mainstream attention of late and is becoming an increasingly popular holistic health care method.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-kee) is a spiritual, mental and physical holistic health technique that involves the use of life energy, which is transmitted to the client through the palms of the practitioner.
Most historic references cite an educator from the 1800s as the first to begin practicing and teaching the Reiki we recognize today. The tradition was passed on to others and by the 1920s, Reiki had become part of Japanese culture. It would take until the mid-1970s before Reiki was introduced to the Western world.
Reiki is not a religion, nor is it affiliated with any religion. It is a spiritual practice that can be used by people of any religion or world view. Reiki can be used alone or in conjunction with other types of healing or medical practices. Learn more from a certified advanced Saratoga Reiki practitioner.
How Does Reiki Heal?
Reiki works by replenishing the body's depleted energies to restore optimal health in mind, body and spirit.
Reiki travels through the client's body, seeking out areas that have been robbed of vital energies from various life stresses and afflictions. After locating depletions, the energy flows to these regions, restoring them to harmony and initiating the healing process.
How Does Reiki Travel?
When deconstructed, Reiki can be viewed in two parts: Rei and ki. Rei is a term used to describe the guiding spiritual nature, while ki is the term for the energy being channeled. Universal energy is channeled through the practitioner's body, but s/he cannot control the flow; it is guided by a universal spirit.
The energy is attracted almost magnetically to any spiritual, mental or physical imbalance present in the client. The energy will flow only when needed, so there is no need to worry about flooding the body with too much energy or feeling exhausted after treatment.
What Does Reiki Healing Feel Like?
The Reiki energy is channeled from the practitioner to the client through his or her palms, so the client feels the practitioner's touch. This touch is not a massage technique, but similar to a laying-on-of-the-hands technique.
The client feels the practitioner gently resting his or her hands in a series of positions covering the head, trunk, legs and feet.
Some clients experience a gentle heat sensation flowing in and around their body during this energy-transfer procedure, but that sensation varies with treatment and by the person receiving the treatment.
Is Reiki Safe?
Saratoga Reiki healing is an extremely safe holistic health treatment. With Reiki treatment, there is very little risk for negative reactions, even if used in conjunction with prescription medications.
Finding A Saratoga Reiki Healing Practitioner
There are many holistic health practitioners in Saratoga and surrounding areas, and many offer very effective Reiki treatments. Unlike many 'touch therapies' practiced in New York State, there is no state licensing procedures for Reiki practitioners. This can make it difficult to determine the skill levels of various Reiki practitioners. Complicating this is a proliferation of classes where one can learn Reiki and earn the title of "Reiki master" - making it even more difficult to distinguish the truly talented from the newly trained. Many experienced Reiki masters have spent several years dedicated to developing their skill and increasing their spiritual awareness, something that is unlikely to be taught fully in a few hours of classroom time. They key is to find a Saratoga Reiki healing practitioner with lots of experience.
For now, a referral from a trusted source is a great way to locate a talented Saratoga Reiki practitioner. Ask questions of the practitioner - including how they came practice Reiki, how long they have practiced it, and how they continue to develop and hone their skill.
