Canvas Hair Salon, 90 Front St. in
Ballston Spa, is a new business offering a
variety of hair cutting and styling services.
It held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in
May. The owner, Jessica Shambo, has more
than 14 years of experience working as a
hair stylist. She worked for several salons
in Saratoga Springs before she eventually
decided it was time to start her own
“It’s always been a dream of mine to
open a business,” said Shambo.
For seven years she ran a hair salon
out of her own home. Her family built an
extension on the home to accommodate
the salon. Eventually, the need came to
expand the business. Now, Canvas Hair
Salon operates out of its own storefront
on Front Street.
Shambo received extensive training
for hair styling. In New York City she has
trained for such big names as L’Oreal
Professional, Wella and Schwarzkopf. She
still enjoys attending training sessions for

The salon offers women’s, men’s and
children’s haircuts; coloring and highlights;
blow dry styling; and formal styling.

Canvas Hair Salon uses L’Oreal Professional,
Wella, Goldwell, Pureology, and
Osis products. For hair coloring Schwarzkopf
products are used.
Shambo said she has maintained a
loyal clientele from her years in the hair
“I strive for a comfortable setting in
my salon,” said Shambo. “I want everyone
to feel good about themselves when they
leave and love the way they look. A lot of
my customers tell me how relaxed they
feel after they get done with their hair.”
