  1. Are you a native to the area?
  2. I was born in Albany and lived in Menands for a year, but have lived in Saratoga for most of my life. My family goes back generations in the area.

  3. Roohan Realty has been voted the "Best of " by The Saratogian for 5 years running. What sets your company apart from other real estate firms in the area?
  4. We have a strong commitment to the community. I think that really resonates with people and sets us apart from other firms and franchises. Because we are locally owned and operated, phones are answered by people 7 days a week --- not machines. Everyone who works at Roohan has walked through each and every property they have listed.

    We also appreciate our clients and are here to assist them in every way we can. If they are moving, we will provide boxes, tape, even a moving van to make their move easier. Every November, we hold a client appreciation party. We know our clients are responsible for Roohan's success.

  5. What do you like to do when you are not working?
  6. I really enjoy relaxing in my yard, hanging out by the pool and watching movies. I also love being with my family. This past weekend, I attended a Rugby Tournament with my sons and watched my other son play in the "Beast of the East" tournament in Rhode Island.

  7. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
  8. I'll be right in the front office. I absolutely love what I do and cannot imagine doing anything else.

  9. How do you motivate your employees?
  10. My employees are self-motivated
    , but, if they have a challenge, they know they can always come to me to help them work through it.

  11. How did you get into the real estate industry?
  12. I went to school for civil engineering and first worked in construction and engineering, but my father [the original owner of Realty] asked me over and over to get my real estate license, so after some time, I did.  I didn't use my license for awhile, but eventually transitioned into the real estate business with my dad.

  13. How has the real estate market been affecting Saratoga?
  14. The biggest problem this market is facing is the national news, however the market is not seeing the decline that is being seen around the country. Roohan Realty does not have a lot of flipping homes. For most of our clients, this is either their primary residence or their second home. The biggest issue facing our clients right now is not enough inventory.

  15. Why do you think people want to live and work in Saratoga?
  16. The question is "Why wouldn't they?" Saratoga is a great place to live. Beautiful state parks, culture, history, SPAC - its all in Saratoga. You are also half hour from the Capital City, Albany International Airport and a short drive to Lake George and Lake Placid.

  17. You have been in the real estate business since 1979. Do you remember your most difficult client?
  18. I really can't remember any challenging clients...but there were a few challenging houses!

  19. What's your favorite part of your job?
  20. Hands down, the people I work with---both my employees and their clients. I am also blessed to be working with my sister, mother, mother-in-law and 3 cousins. My sons work here during the summer, too helping with landscaping, painting, etc...It's a very family oriented business that I am proud to be a part of.
