Hot Chicken Trend Heads to Saratoga Springs

A new hot chicken spot is preparing to join Saratoga Springs’ fast-casual dining scene. According to the Times Union, Sherry Hot Chicken & Grill plans to open on Route 9 near Northway Exit 13 by the end of June.
The restaurant will take over the former 13 North space at 2955 Route 9, just north of the interstate. Founded in Oneida in late 2025, the small but growing chain is making its first move into the Capital Region.
Nashville-style fried chicken will be the focus, with sliders and tenders offered in four spice levels. The menu is also expected to include:
- Burgers
- Halal gyros and platters
- Salads
- Fried seafood
- Sides
The Times Union noted that the space only needs minor interior renovations, though the exterior is expected to get a vivid intergalactic-inspired paint job. Initial hours are planned for 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with dine-in, online ordering, and delivery options available.
Sherry Hot Chicken joins a growing list of chicken-focused restaurants entering the Capital Region in recent years. For Saratoga Springs residents and summer visitors, it adds another quick-service dining option close to the Northway.

Bel-Mint Stakes Ice Cream Returns for Belmont Season in Saratoga

A familiar summer flavor is back as Saratoga gets ready for the 2026 Belmont Stakes.
Stewart’s Shops has reintroduced the “Bel-Mint Stakes” ice cream, a limited-time flavor inspired by the racing festival. It combines mint ice cream with a chocolate cookie swirl, giving a subtle nod to the event’s signature green theme.
After its debut last year, the flavor quickly gained attention and is making another appearance as the Belmont returns to Saratoga for a final year. With so much happening around the track and throughout the area, it’s a simple way to feel part of the season, even outside the grandstand.

You can find it at participating Stewart’s Shops through early June, making it an easy stop whether you’re out running errands or spending time around downtown.
SPAC Celebrates 60 Years With Special Anniversary Initiatives

SPAC is marking its 60th anniversary season with a lineup of special initiatives designed to celebrate the venue’s history, community, and connection to the arts. Throughout the 2026 season, visitors can expect new exhibits, anniversary events, community projects, and limited-time commemorative experiences across the grounds.
New Art Exhibit Opens in The Pines
As part of the celebration, SPAC is debuting a new VisualArts@SPAC exhibit called This Place Loves You Back by artist Whitney Browne. Located in The Pines, the exhibit was inspired by fragments and photographs from SPAC’s archives, capturing the intimate, in-between moments and memories shared at the venue over the decades. The exhibition is currently open to ticketed guests during performance nights.
Anniversary Night Honors SPAC’s Opening Year
A special “Anniversary Night” celebration is planned for July 9 before New York City Ballet’s performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the same production that opened SPAC back in 1966.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the evening will feature a festive pre-performance gathering with complimentary wine and beer tastings, treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes, and souvenir photo opportunities to celebrate six decades of performances and memories in Saratoga Springs.
Fans Can Share Their Favorite SPAC Memories
SPAC is also encouraging visitors and longtime fans to take part in its “Tell Us Your SPAC Story” initiative, where people can submit favorite memories, photos, and experiences from past seasons. Some submissions may be featured throughout the anniversary year.
Special Promotions & Anniversary-Themed Offerings
The anniversary season will also include several commemorative promotions and experiences:
- Limited-Edition Ice Cream: A partnership with Stewart’s Shops has produced "Fireworks on the Lawn," a creamy vanilla flavor with a tart cherry swirl and red and blue Pop Rocks™.
- Milton Glaser Poster Collection: SPAC is releasing a special collection of vintage poster prints by the legendary graphic designer Milton Glaser, including digital prints and limited-edition signed silkscreens.
- $19.66 Anniversary Ticket Offer: In honor of the year SPAC opened, special anniversary lawn tickets are available for just $19.66 for select performances by the New York City Ballet and The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Celebrating the Past While Looking Ahead

This year’s anniversary theme, “Seasons,” reflects how SPAC has grown and evolved over the past 60 years while continuing to create memorable experiences for the Saratoga community and visitors each season.
Downtown Saratoga Welcomes Guests for the Excitement of the Last Belmont Stakes in Saratoga Springs

As the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival returns to Saratoga Springs for its final year in 2026, downtown businesses and community organizations are preparing to welcome visitors with a week full of entertainment.
One of the most anticipated traditions returning this year is the Downtown Window Decorating Contest, which transforms storefronts across Broadway and beyond into colorful tributes to summertime in Saratoga Springs. This year’s theme celebrates everything that makes the city iconic, from afternoons at the races to attending performances at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
Judging for the decorating contest will take place on June 2, with winners announced the following day. This year’s judges include Mark Mulholland, Ramon Dominguez, and Acacia Clement.
Businesses will compete for prizes, including a named race during the Saratoga summer meet, as well as clubhouse and grandstand tickets. Participating businesses include Dark Horse, Impressions, Lifestyles of Saratoga, High Peaks Canna, Gilded, G. Willikers, Celtic Treasures, Saratoga Candy Co., and various others.
The celebration reaches its peak on Wednesday, June 3, with the return of Belmont on Broadway, a free outdoor concert taking place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. right in the center of downtown Saratoga Springs.
This year’s lineup features performances by Vertical Horizon and Fitz and the Tantrums, bringing thousands of visitors together for an evening of live music ahead of Belmont weekend. To accommodate the event, Broadway will close from Van Dam Street to City Hall beginning early Wednesday morning for concert setup and safety preparations.
Downtown leaders say the final Belmont Stakes hosted in Saratoga will be both a celebration of horse racing history and a showcase of the energy that defines summer in the Spa City.
Heritage at Saratoga National Debuts a Fresh Take on a Familiar Favorite

A new chapter is underway in Saratoga Springs as Prime at Saratoga National reintroduces itself as Heritage at Saratoga National. The reimagined restaurant opened for the season on April 2, bringing a refreshed identity to its location overlooking the 18th hole of Saratoga National Golf Club.
The updated concept blends classic clubhouse character with a more modern, welcoming feel. Guests will notice a redesigned interior that balances vintage inspiration with updated finishes, along with cozy outdoor spaces that make the most of the scenic setting.
A major highlight of the transformation is the expanded bar and lounge, which now flows into the main dining area to create a more social and relaxed atmosphere. “Everyone’s go-to spot is the bar and lounge; therefore, we wanted to make it larger” said Tim Vennard, Vice President of Mazzone Hospitality.

At the same time, the restaurant introduces a more intimate fine dining experience. A separate dining space, defined by a floor-to-ceiling curtain, offers a quieter setting for special occasions while still connecting to the overall energy of the restaurant.
The culinary program is led by Executive Chef Dan Beltran in collaboration with Mazzone Hospitality’s Brian Molino. Beltran joined Saratoga National in early 2025 after serving as Executive Sous Chef at Salt and Char, bringing a fresh perspective to the American contemporary menu.
Heritage will expand its schedule beginning April 8, with lunch and dinner service offered throughout the week and Sunday lunch returning. Located at 458 Union Avenue and managed by Mazzone Hospitality, the restaurant continues to evolve while honoring the legacy that made it a longtime favorite.
BREAKING: Lifestyles, Union Hall, and Caroline & Main Reveal "The Sale Room"

There’s a new reason to swing through downtown Saratoga, especially if you love a good deal! The Sale Room is opening its doors soon, introducing a dedicated space for sale merchandise at 443 Broadway, Suite 6.
This intentional new retail concept is tucked away in the alley between Union Hall Supply Co. and Putnam Market. It brings together a curated mix of discounted inventory from a family of local favorites: Lifestyles of Saratoga, Union Hall Supply Co., and Caroline & Main.
Instead of bouncing between stores to check sale racks or wondering if you missed a good find, everything is now being organized under one roof.
For owner Heidi Owen West, the move is a strategic way to allow the main flagship stores to stay focused on their new, full-price collections while giving sale items a thoughtful environment where they can be easily shopped.

The selection will rotate regularly, featuring a consistent presentation of apparel and accessories at reduced prices. Because all items come directly from the existing family of stores, it’s simply a more streamlined and flow-friendly way to browse your favorite brands.
Whether you’re refreshing your wardrobe for the season, searching for a gift, or just love the thrill of scoring a great deal, The Sale Room adds a fresh, budget-friendly stop to Saratoga’s shopping scene.
Keep an eye out for the official opening date and details!

The owners of Bocage Champagne Bar are getting ready to unveil their next big project—and Saratoga food lovers are going to want to make a reservation!
Zac Denham and Clark Gale, the duo behind the stylish and wildly popular Bocage, have announced the grand opening of Standard Fare, their first full-service restaurant, located just across the street at 21 Phila Street. Reservations go live on August 1, with the official opening set for August 15.
Described as a “fresh take on comfort food,” Standard Fare will offer a warm, lively atmosphere with a menu that balances nostalgia with creativity. Dessert lovers will want to save room - there are towering pies, cakes, and “ridiculous” milkshakes that are already getting buzz.
The 40-seat restaurant will be open daily with late night hours - until midnight on weeknights and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. Perfect for night owls and those out on the town in Saratoga!
Entering a New Era: Gaffney's Reopens on Caroline Street

Gaffney’s reopened on Saturday, May 2, marking a new chapter for the longtime Caroline Street nightlife spot. The Saratoga staple has returned with a more design-driven atmosphere while still keeping the social energy that made it a familiar name downtown.
Under new ownership from Mike Malone and Mike Morgan, the space has been reworked from the inside out. The updated layout brings a more polished feel, with each area designed to offer a different kind of night out.
One of the biggest additions is The Parlor at Gaffney’s, a layered, mood-driven lounge built for conversation and cocktails. The reimagined sports bar brings an elevated take on game-day energy, while the refreshed open-air patio offers a relaxed setting for the Saratoga season.
Live entertainment remains central to the Gaffney’s experience, with plans for dueling pianos, country acts, 80s and 90s cover bands, acoustic sets, and late-night DJs across the property. The menu has also been updated with coastal fare and Southern-inspired flavors.
For locals and visitors looking for a night out in Saratoga Springs, Gaffney’s is back with a renewed look, expanded spaces, and a fresh approach to Caroline Street nightlife.

Canopy of Saratoga Celebrates Its First Spring Season in Wilton

Canopy of Saratoga officially celebrated its grand opening on Earth Day after opening its doors in Wilton last November. The new greenhouse café and garden destination on Route 9 is now fully up and running for its first full spring season.
The family-owned business comes from the team behind Mandy’s Spring Nursery, with local roots that stretch back to the 1930s. Todd and Leonie Smith created Canopy alongside their children, building a space that blends plants, home design, food, and community gathering all in one location.
Inside, visitors will find a bright greenhouse café serving breakfast, lunch, espresso drinks, and rotating seasonal specials. Outside, the property features a newly opened plant yard filled with specialty plants, water features, and gathering spaces designed to encourage people to slow down and spend time together.

Saratoga Spa State Park is Growing!

Saratoga Spa State Park is expanding by 79 acres, reports News 10 ABC, for the first time in 20 years.
The State has finalized the purchase of a parcel of land in the southeast corner of the park, near Columbia Avenue and the East-West Road entrance. Thanks to nearly $480,000 from the State's Environmental Protection Fund, this move ensures that this stretch of wetlands and forest is preserved and protected.
The best uses for this land and public access are still being worked out, although it's been declared that no hunting will be allowed.
We'll stay tuned for more updates on one of our favorite places in Saratoga!
