About this event
This hands-on workshop draws inspiration from the traditional Japanese art of Gyotaku, a centuries-old printmaking method originally used by fishermen to record their catch, as well as from the beautiful watercolor studies of native fish found in the lakes and rivers of the Adirondack region.
Participants will create a long rectangular fish print using a simple and authentic printing process, then enhance their work with watercolor to add color, movement, and personality to their design. The result is a striking piece of art that reflects both cultural tradition and our local natural environment.
This is a relaxed and welcoming experience designed for all ages. No prior art experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to try something new. Families, individuals, and first-time creators will all feel comfortable jumping in. Come spend an afternoon exploring art, nature, and creativity together—and leave with a one-of-a-kind artwork to take home.
All materials will be provided. Pre-registration is strongly recommended.
