Week 2: “The Paper & Print Studio”

Exploring the versatility of paper, from 3D structures to messy ink work.

• Day 1: Handmade Greeting Cards

  • Projects: Create your own greeting cards using stickers, paint pens, dried flower petals, leaves, and butterfly wing coloring sheets.

  • Skill Focus: Creativity, pressing, gluing, cutting and gifting.

• Day 2: Paper Mache Masks

  • Projects: Sculpting 3D masks using balloons, newspaper, and paste.

  • Skill Focus: Structural layering, proportions, and surface smoothing.

• Day 3: Block Printing & Stationery

  • Projects: Carving soft foam or rubber blocks to print custom greeting cards and wrapping paper.

  • Skill Focus: Negative space design, inking with rollers, and pressure consistency.

• Day 4: Origami & Paper Lanterns

  • Projects: Folding paper and constructing glowing paper lanterns.

  • Skill Focus: Precision folding, geometric logic, and delicate assembly.

• Day 5: Marbled Paper (Suminagashi)

  • Projects: Creating “floating ink” designs on water to transfer onto journals and bookmarks.

  • Skill Focus: Surface tension, color suspension, and fluid design.
