About this event
Educators from the Schenectady County Historical Society discus home life during the Revolutionary War, focusing on the foodways that sustained the fight for freedom. Participants will churn butter and sample period-appropriate recipes. Please register online.
What to Expect
- Participants will spend a substantial part of the program making butter, which they will sample on crackers.
- Other period-appropriate food items will be prepared ahead of time and served.
- Participants will be seated at tables.
Sensory Information
- There will be a variety of food to sample which may contain allergens; caregivers should check before accepting any food items.
- Room may be moderately busy (registration open to 25 children).
- Bright overhead lights.
Supports
- Kids can take a break and rejoin the program as needed.
- Noise cancelling headphones and fidgets are welcome. A limited number is available to use during the program, or bring your own.
