Join runners and walkers at Grafton Lakes State Park for the annual Run for the Roses, a long-running community race that welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. The event features a scenic 5K race and a 1-mile Kids Run through one of the Capital Region's most beautiful state parks.
The 5K course begins on the park entrance road, travels along Route 2, loops around the town park, and returns via Long Pond Road. Participants will enjoy a mostly downhill first half before tackling uphill stretches on the return. Water stations, mile markers, and split times are provided along the route.
Children ages 1–12 can take part in the Kids Run, a fun 1-mile course that winds through the woods and along the beach before finishing beneath the race banner.
Awards are presented immediately following the race, and all runners and walkers receive ribbons and books to encourage participation. Refreshments and shower facilities are available, and attendees are encouraged to stay and enjoy the park's beach and picnic areas after the event.
