The Tang Museum Presents Spectacular Statum: The Art of Layering

About this event

Participants will be able to create their own sand art landscapes using glass jars and colorful sand, or mixed media clay collages using beans, seeds and beads. For children in grades K-6, accompanied by an adult. Please register each child online, in-person, or by calling 518-784-7860, ext. 305. This program is inspired by our 2026 Summer Reading Program, "Unearth A Story. "

What to Expect:

• The room will be crowded and kids will be chatting
• There will be bright lights
• You will take your place around one of the tables
• The presenter will give instructions
• Helpers will hand out art materials
• You can choose to work with sand or with clay

Sensory:

• Project will be messy
• Materials will have different textures

Supports:

• You may step outside the room to take a break
• The library has fidgets you can borrow
