8 Reasons You Should Spend a Day in Lake George During Your Vacation in Saratoga Springs

Saratoga has it all - horse racing, history, charm, shopping, great restaurants and more. The only thing it's missing is a waterfront right in the heart of downtown. Take the short, 30-minute drive north to Lake George where you can catch stunning views of the water at almost every turn while you stroll through the village. Every block is packed with shops, attractions, and restaurants you'll love to explore. Here are our 8 reasons Lake George deserves a visit:

1. Beaches

Stick your toes in the sand or cool off in the beautiful blue waters of the lake. With plenty of public beaches to choose from you'll find the perfect place to play in the sun. Many of the beaches are free admission but there may be a parking fee. There's even a beach dedicated to your 4 legged friends!

2. Cruises

What better way to take in the beauty of the lake and the surrounding Adirondacks than from the deck of a boat? Take a family-friendly cruise on the century-old steamboat, the Mohican, enjoy a dinner cruise aboard the Adirondac, or book something more intimate with a charter company so you can tube, fish, and cliff jump as you please.

3. Fireworks

Fireworks aren't just for holidays and special events - catch them most Thursdays in July & August and select Saturdays during the summer. The show starts at 9:30pm but be sure to head up early to get a great view! Catch the display from the shoreline, hit up a restaurant and watch from their patio, or even book a firework cruise.

4. Mini-Golf
