Hadley Mountain

  • Travel time: 47 minutes
  • Hiking distance: 3.2 miles out & back
  • Ascent: 1,500-feet
  • Hiker tip: from the fire tower at the summit, to the north you can see eastern high peaks, to the east you can see Green Mountains of Vermont and The Berkshires, to the south The Catskills and Southwest the Great Sacandaga Lake!

Spruce Mountain

  • Travel time: 22 minutes
  • Hiking distance: 3.1 miles out & back
  • Ascent: 1,026-feet
  • Hiker tip: check out the fire tower at the top for the best view

John Boyd Thacher State Park

  • Travel time: 57 minutes
  • Hiking distance: 4 miles out & back
  • Ascent: 1,289-feet
    • Note: This park contains 25-miles of trails but the above metrics are regarding the most popular trail: Indian Ladder Trail

  • Ascent: 2,030-feet

Buck Mountain

  • Travel time: 44 minutes
  • Hiking distance: 6.6 miles out & back
  • Ascent: 2,000-feet
  • Hiker tip: check out Stewart's Ledge if you're up for a second hike- the summit is only 25 minutes from the same trailhead

Shelving Rock Falls & Summit

  • Travel time: 1 hour 7 min
  • Hiking distance: 3.4 miles for summit out & back, 6.4 for summit and falls out & back
  • Ascent: 1,130-feet
  • Hiker tip: walking along the falls will take you down to the shores of Lake George

Cat Mountain

  • Travel time: 50 minutes
  • Hiking distance: 6 miles out & back
  • Ascent: 926-feet
  • Hiker tip: this is one of a few mountains that provides a view of the entire Lake George and many mountains on the western and eastern shores

  • Hiking distance: 7.8 miles loop
  • Ascent: 1,300-feet
  • Hiker tip: you can pair this hike with Shelving Rock Falls & Summit if you're feeling energized

Thomas Mountain

  • Travel time: 44 minutes
  • Hiking distance: 3 miles out & back
  • Ascent: 716-feet
  • Hiker tip: with a furnished cabin at the summit you can comfortably enjoy views of Lake George
