Ellms Family Farm

Ellms Family Farm in Ballston Spa becomes a haven of kid-friendly activities each autumn. In addition to the typical offerings you'd find at a farm for children - pumpkin picking, a corn maze, livestock to visit - there are a ton of other attractions to try.

Your children will love the giant pumpkin jumping pad, a low ropes challenge course, gemstone mining, mini excavators, a moomoochoochoo, and much more. New for this year are tiny tractors that go on a four-minute ride around a track, and a tractor inflatable obstacle course.

Schuyler Farms

You may be familiar with Schuyler Farms' haunted corn maze, but don't discount this Schuylerville gem for the little ones. While they likely will need to skip the scary attraction, they'll be thrilled to embark on a hayride to the pumpkin patch, slide down the 70' super slide, race the pedal carts, feed animals in the petting zoo, and search for real gemstones and fossils.

Sunnyside Gardens

Sunnyside Gardens in Saratoga Springs is much more than a garden center, especially come fall. Bring the kids to explore their pumpkin patch, take a hayride through spooky woods, and walk through the Hall of Fame with over 300 carved jack-o'-lanterns. Don't forget to grab some cider doughnuts and maybe a mum to take home with you (because moms get to have their treats, too).

Bowman Orchards

Situated in Rexford, Bowman Orchards is always a hot spot for children in the fall. After you've taken the kids here for apple picking in their 98-acre orchard, make sure to return for more fall fun each weekend (they're open through October 23 for 2022). Have the kids go for a pony ride, pet farm animals, get lost in the corn maze, take a hayride, ride on the fruit train or Bowman Orchard Express, and they also have apple cannons.

Vincek Farm

Located right in Saratoga Springs, Vincek Farm has the perfect corn maze for little ones, pick-your-own pumpkins, and farm animals. They've been family-owned and operated for four generations.

Bring Halloween Home With Books, Cookies & Treats

Halloween Books

In addition to finding pumpkins for carving at the above farms and agricultural businesses, extend the at-home Halloween activities by stopping by Northshire Bookstore on Broadway in Saratoga, which always has a plethora of seasonal books for children available. In fact, their entire second floor is just for kids.

Halloween Candy

If your children have been extra good while you're out and about purchasing books and wandering through pumpkin patches, make a stop at the Saratoga Candy Co., also conveniently located on Broadway. They're sure to have a variety of Halloween treats.

Halloween Cookies

Have you heard of Cookies to Decorate? Their cookie kits are offered by Dolce & Biscotti, one of Saratoga County's favorite bakeries located in Clifton Park. They're not just limited to Christmas treats, though.

Check out their Classic Halloween Deluxe Cookies to Decorate Kit, which includes 15 cookies, four bags of colored cookie frosting, and four containers of brightly colored sprinkles. On their website you can find a variety of other holiday and special occasion cookie kits.
