Internationally renowned artists and scholars will be in residence at Skidmore College this summer doing what they do best: teaching, creating and performing. Attend free events on Skidmore's campus this summer, or apply to join a program!

Summer at Skidmore presents a distinctive array of academic programs, arts institutes, and community programs that contribute to Skidmore’s unique position among liberal arts colleges as a place for academic experimentation and cutting-edge artistic creation and development.  Everything we present shares a spirit of innovation, broad access, serious educational endeavor, and fun. 

Summer at Skidmore also offers a variety of programs for children during the summer months including a day camp and a wide array of sports camps.

Ellie M. Hisama is a professor of music and an affiliated faculty member in the Institute for Research on Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Columbia University. Her research focuses on 20th-century and 21st-century classical and popular music, feminist music analysis, race, and ethnicity. Free & open to the public

Featured artists are the winners of the 2016 Filene Music Scholarships, established in 1982 by the Lincoln and Therese Filene Foundation to help gifted young musicians develop their talents as part of a liberal arts education. Music Department faculty featured in performance will include Sylvia Stoner, Jan Vinci, Pola Baytelman, Michael Emery, and Jameson Platte. Previous Filene Scholars and the Skidmore Vocal Chamber Ensemble will also perform. Free & open to the public
