Summer at Skidmore presents a distinctive array of academic programs, arts institutes, and community programs that contribute to Skidmore’s unique position among liberal arts colleges as a place for academic experimentation and cutting-edge artistic creation and development.  Everything we present shares a spirit of innovation, broad access, serious educational endeavor, and fun. 

Summer at Skidmore also offers a variety of programs for children during the summer months including a day camp and a wide array of sports camps.

David Bromberg was born in Philadelphia in 1945 and raised in Tarrytown, NY. He began studying guitar at age thirteen and eventually enrolled in Columbia University as a musicology major. Bromberg’s material, based in the folk and blues idioms, continually expanded to encompass bluegrass, ragtime, country and ethnic music. His fans will find blues, bluegrass, gospel, folk, Irish fiddle tunes, pop and English drinking songs happily coexisting. Bromberg is an astonishing performer whose range and musical depth has delighted devoted audiences for over forty years and will for many years hence.

Among the most original, prolific, and influential bassists in jazz, Grammy Award-winner Ron Carter leads this trio that includes Donald Vega (piano) and Russell Malone (Guitar).
